For my Screen Printing Patterns class final what I am focusing on is before the moment of collapse, there is a split second of awareness: an awakening of what is actually being lost. What I am exploring is a collection of structures that are all about to break. The build up of a tossed pattern of half circles represents the negative and the positive elements of stress being released though the cracks of the objects. It is the object’s last effort in trying to let go of everything to maintain their form. But to let go of every type of stress also means to give up on the other elements that need that stress in order to function: A plant cannot survive with out water and a pedestal cannot hold objects if it is falling apart. What is captured is the moment of a split second in time: the object’s last breathe, showing their realization that what they have let go was actually vital to their contribution.
